Hi Carlo,
An incomplete answer:

I'll have to check the serial numbers but both of my RA1792s also tune in
1Hz steps. They also tune down to 0Hz.

You will have the standard 455kHz IF - it's the big board visible as you
lift off the top cover. The filters on the left may have the frequency
marked on them. The circuit inside the box takes the 455kHz auxiliary
output and downconverts this to 100kHz. One of my radios has this; the
other doesn't. It's easy to restore the 455kHz IF to the back panel, if
you want to.

works also in USB and LSB but only between +0 and +8 kHz.
You should get +/- 8kHz in CW mode. In normal USB/LSB mode, the BFO
display shouldn't be on. On both of mine, if you then select one of the
(narrow) normal filters, the radio now operates in 'IF shift' mode, in
which the narrow filter can be shifted from 'f/2' to 8kHz in USB ('-f/2'
to -8kHz in LSB), where f is the bandwidth of the filter selected. This
only operates for those filter positions narrower than the standard
LSB/USB filters.
What filters do you have?
> So, do you known the procedure to start the BITE test?
can't remember the exact procedure off-hand but it involves the dip
switches inside the front cover. Will look it up if nobody else respnds.
