The 6790/GM manual seems to have no useful alignment information at
all.  The very similar RA1792 Manual for the BFO alignment says to set
the  BFO at 455 kHz and check that the voltage at TP8 is 8 +/- 0.5
Volts, adjusting the tuning slug of L4 as necessary.  From memory,  the
range is about +/- 2 Volts for the full tuning range.  I could check one
of mine if you need it.
