IIRC, the filter selection for SSB is based on physical position
on the board. So if someone put a narrow filter in the slot
normally used for the SSB filter, you'd get the wrong one.
You can, of course, receive SSB by setting up for CW mode and
offsetting the BFO by half the filter width (or a little more).
I did this when I had SSB mode fail on my 6790. You might
find it useful to try this and compare the audio quality
of various filters.
