Another option is to use a computer control program which will allow
you to tune below 500 khz. Colin Trass' program come to mind:
www.visualradios.com
The keyboard method that Bob alluded to is done as follows:
Enter a convenient frequency + the frequency (<500kHz) that
you want to tune to: 10.06000 (for 60kHz WWVB, for example)
>Enter, 1006000, Enter
Now hit enter again, and "zero out" the first two digits:
>Enter, 00, Enter
Now you are tuned to 60kHz.
I have verified that this method works on two different
6790/GM's
Note that you can't manually tune below 500kHz; the moment you touch
the tuning knob the rx will jump back to 29.999xxx.
Either of these methods will let you check you the rx below 500kHz

Hi Craig,
There are several versions out there. Often you trade out one option on the
radio for another one. For instance you may pick up low frequency coverage
and loose a factor of 10 on your smallest tuning step.
There is a way to "fake" a 6790 into running below 500 KHz. As I recall it
involves entering a partial frequency from the keyboard. The advantage is
that it lets you try things out without changing out the rom's.
If your radios work like mine they are pretty darn dead below about 400 KHz
or so.
Take Care!
