Hi Jacques,

The cause of the noise problem is indeed inside T207, but it's not the 
capacitor.   The primary (L240) is open!   Even though it looks to be 
the nicest IF transformer ever made,  after 70 years anything can fail.  
  Fortunately it looks like T208 in the R-390A is the same as T-207 in 
the R-390, and I have a junker "A" chassis with the RF deck intact that 
hopefully will be a replacement.   Now I have an incentive to dig out 
from today's snowfall so I can get it out of my storage building ;-)
