Hi Barry,
I do not know what cleaning steps you performed when you worked on your
R-390 RF deck, but did you cleaned every slug and coil ?
I remember having cleaned all the slugs DRY, because there was a lot of dust
accumulated between the coils cores and slugs, and yes, they produced a lot
of squeaks.
I have removed every coil for inspection and cleaning purposes.
See attached.
I have dry-cleaned the inside of the coils using Q-tips, and I have also
insured that there was not internal burrs in the coils cores by using a
twist drill of the proper dimension, driven BY FINGERS to insure that the
internal diameter was constant up to the very bottom.
No more squeaks after reassembly.
Removing all the coils helped a lot for the cleaning of the deck top, also.
