 Hi, Barry and list,
Some time ago I got excellent results with Krylon Specialty Lacquer, product number 7030.  The glossy finish looked really sharp.  However, I don't recall what I did for priming.

White paint for lines was acrylic paint in a small squeeze bottle from Plaid Enterprises FolkArt Outdoor Opaque 1610 Wicker White available at Walmart's crafts section.  You will get good results by first carefully scribing the groove to bare metal, then rubbing in the paint and wiping off excess.

As I've mentioned over the past several months, I'm in the process of refinishing the knobs (as well as all the other front-panel parts) for my R390.  I stripped, sanded them and used Rust-Oleum Self-Etching primer and painted them with Rust-Oleum enamel.
