Going on 75 here and so far, so good - nothing major.
Short story: In my younger days I did a stint with BNSF (Burlington Northern & Sante Fe, Big Nasty Scary face, etc, etd.) as an electrician. I was going to college on the GI bill after serving in the Air Force for four quarters, working four quarters at the railroad to pay for college, going back to college four quarters, and on until I graduated. When I was leaving my electrician job at the RR for the last time to complete college and get my degree I received some valued advice from a co-worker.
His name was Ike (named after General Eisenhower), he was Philipino and about 30 years older than I was. He was a quiet, friendly little guy with a big wide grin that was always punctuated by a cigar that was never lit but continually chewed. He spoke good english with a strong accent from his native island. We were sitting outside in the sunshine in our coveralls taking a break and Ike asked me:Ike, "So what you gonna do Stebe?"Me: "I'm gonna finish up college and get my college degree"Ike: "Well Stebe, you just remember one ting - you ain't got your health, you ain't got nuthing!
Some of the best advice I ever received.
