That is an excellent reminder of the conditions on some vessels. It also attests to the practice
of keeping tube shields in place because of the possibility of loosening over a period of time.
The issue of heat was secondary if at all. It was vibration !

Likely built to spec considering the rocking and rolling of ships and the constant vibration from the propeller shafts and generators onboard ship- speaking from experience as a Tin Can Radioman…
