The raised rounded contact "teeth" should point towards the IF deck.
In the pre-Internet era, I very cautiously used crazy glue to repair a
couple of broken slugs in a R-390 RF deck. Just make sure that the glue drys
thoroughly before re-installation and also make sure that it doesn't extrude
beyond the surface of the slug or it may bind up in its travel through the
core...
These days, I'm pretty sure someone has some cores and/or springs
available...!
