[R-390] AGC Line Again

I am currently monitoring the AGC voltage at the jumper. With the radio cold, I was measuring -9.01 volts relative to ground.As the radio warmed up 15 minutes or so, the voltage has dropped to -5.06 volts, the signal is distorted and the s meter is pinned. The s meter started at 60db . It is tuned to WBZ which is about 15  miles from here.(very strong)  I am going to see if the AGC voltage drops any further. If it doesn't, I'll shut it off and check the resistance to ground with the jumper removed. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the problem be on only one of the mech filters? I notice no change when switching between them.  Many Thanks to all of you for your help in beating this demon!!
