Those of you that say “see attached ir picture attached”. Need help. I have never seen an attached picture other than one who wanted a comment as to “shade” of gray.

I have no clue how to “ see attached”

Hiya Don,

I pulled off my RF cover and it was completely blank. I wanted that marking like yours does! I took the image you sent, photoshopped out the background color, printed it onto a water slide decal and voila! See attached pic...

Used the same technique to make a new label for my Taffet CY-979A case. Pic attached...

That is a picture of an original cover, just in super shape. Just for info I have attached a doctored version of the same picture showing the color dots on each RF/IF slug. A bad troubleshooting event caused me to investigate and create this picture. I had an incorrect slug in the variable IF which caused me problems while trying to do an alignment. Most of these dots are gone having been exposed to dirt and crud. I used the RF deck of my nice R-391 to obtain these colors, they will vary with different RF deck versions over the years. So, don't get too excited if your dots are missing or don't match. As long as the radio works and the slugs appear even along the slug racks you are probably just fine. My problem was uneven slug height and image reception of the broadcast band. Someone had just replaced a slug not realizing that they are different.

You are probably correct leaving on the shields for intermittent usage.

Thanks for the reply, and enjoy the upcoming holiday.

Don

Hi Don,

Thanks for the good words!

I put the cover on last night so I can't look underneath, but I don't recall seeing any markings underneath. How did yours get to be so perfect?

Good info from the TM! My tube shields are on. I like the protection they offer against oops, oh craps. I figure since mine don't run 24/7 for months on end versus the hour or so a day of use they get now in a climate controlled area, the tube shields won't cause problems for me heat-wise.

Good Morning John, I was really impressed with the pictures of your R-390 and your R-390A, I agree with you regarding spray cans and their proper use.
I have used them for years on these receivers and the S-Line equipment.
In the picture of the inside showing the IF deck, I noticed that you have the tube shields installed. I have attached a picture of a page in my R-389 manual which discussed the tube shields and their removal in most situations. There has been a lot of discussion concerning shields of various types, some of which cause a "chimney effect" to remove heat. Seeing that two modules in these receivers are mounted underneath and are upside down, how does that chimney effect work now? Anyway, I thought you would like the attachment. Also, does your RF deck cover have the printed information on the underside, most of mine do as shown in the second attachment.
Congratulations on the fine job you did with those receivers, you should be very proud.
Regards,
Don WC4G

The inside came out to my satisfaction though... See photo attached.
