[R-390] White lines on knobs

Good Morning Larry and the group. After seeing Larry's fine work on his 
knobs, I thought I would show a couple examples using white latex house 
paint.
It was applied with a finger tip and allowed to set for a while. The excess 
is then removed with tee shirt material wrapped around my index finger 
wiping across. If needed the wrapped finger tip in moistened with some water 
(spit). The R-389 knobs were done last year and the R-390 caution lettering 
is at least ten years old. The tool was made to hold the knobs while 
applying the paint. Larry hit on an important point to let the black paint 
cure before doing the lettering. The white latex is also easy to clean up. 
This method was given to me by Mr. Chuck Rippel several years ago.

Thank you all for providing info to me about this.  I've done a few sets of
knobs over the years, but always struggled to get them to look good.  I
think with all this great info it will be much easier. One thing I already
learned was that I did not let the black cure long enough before applying
the white.

I have all the knobs painted black now and half with 4 coats - they should
be ready for white lines soon.

I've attached some pictures of my Amelco when I did all the black work in
1-11-17.
