A lot of the audio magazines have seemed to go away since we've become a plug and play society, but in the past you could find ads for power cords to make your power amp sound better that were priced at $400 or so and were nothing more than 12-3 SO cable with Hubble Edison plugs on them. There was also some Medicine Man selling a chemical called Tubessence that when painted onto the chips in your stereo would make the amp sound just like it was a tube amp. To quote you O My!!! Oh my !

There was so much of those GE 5654 sold as surplus 25 years ago.
Their price was in the "peanuts" category....
The new trend now is that the underground idiophile community is trying to sell those as extraordinary audio tubes (which they were never intended to be).
Whatever you use those as triodes or not, they will not produce any better sound than the most regarded, vintage audio-only tubes.

Same happened to the 5670s, which despite being real triodes, just succeeded to produce less-than-average sounding audio stage(s).
6688/E810F is another "rare" sharp-cutoff pentode "diverted" to the underground DIY audio "market" and surrounded by a thick "aura".
I was designing tube audio equipment to make a living 20 years ago, so I know one thing or two about...
