[R-390] Fake WE 403's on ebay?

Yo Bubba Dudes!,
Perusing tubes on ebay last night I looked at 5654's and some WE 403's which now command astronomical prices IF real. So there is a very lucrative reason to counterfeit them.
So here comes my question.  The WE 403/6AK5 that I have (real) has its printing on the long side of the tube. And AFAICR, all the WE tubes were marked the same way.
Now many supposedly(and cheaper)  WE 403's had there marking banded around the tube as we usually them marked. Now when I magnified this new style the markings were not sharp. On my 403 and other high priced ones the markings were parallel on the long side.
Now with these suspect tubes were, to me, genuine OEM tube boxes.
Can anyone shed light on the subject?
