[R-390] R390A antenna relay troubleshooting

Peter, Good work on the relay.
This explains the 'no cal' signal.  Have you tried above 8 MH?  There the 1st mixer and 17 MH 1st osc are not used.  Do you hear any tube noise with RF max and audio high?  If you do, the IF is probably ok - start with the 3rd mixer.  Try injecting a modulated 2.455 to 3.455 MH sig into it at TP E211 (depending on your dial setting).  EG: Set the dial to xx.500 and inject 2.955 MH or there abouts.  If no output, try 455 KH.  If no output, inject 455 KH into the IF input.  
Since Chuck restored it, I'm sure he replaced the filter killer cap (C553) with a good one, but this would be a good time to verify it is not leaking.  So before you power it up again, remove the IF deck and check it.  It must have 0 leakage.  If it did damage a bandwidth mechanical filter, this will save the rest.
