[R-390] Comparing R390A w/Period Devices

In one of my five racks of military radio receivers, I have a 51J4 paired with an R-390A for running dual-diversity Teletype traffic.  I had to change a crystal in the CV-116B (the two receivers are attached to) so as to be able to accept the 500KHz IF signal from the 51J4.

I primarily use the 51J4 to sniff out signals from all the muck in the HF bands and if I can tune up pretty well on a signal with the 51J4, then I can come down on it nicely with the R-390A.

Of course, try finding any 60wpm to 100wpm Teletype traffic in the HF bands these days.  It has almost become an exercise in futility.
