Time of day is not as important to me as accurate frequency measurment and the calibration of the tcxo on my Kenwood tcvr and R-1051b.
FLDIGI is a muli-mode digital transmission program for ham operators that is a free download. It has a very accurate way to compensate your soundcard. After your sample rate is correct as per the fldigi instructions, tune to an accurate frequency station such as CHU 1 khz below 3330/14670/7850 kHz in USB mode. You will hear a 1 kHz tone, and see a line at the 1 khz mark on the waterfall, or close to it. Adjust your rig so the mark will read out exactly at 1 kHz. The FLDIGI mode will need to be in 'frequency analysis' and you read the CSV (comma seperated values) average in the rectangular box just below the waterfall.
