[R-390] NON A service docs

I was going to keep my mouth shut, but the "Non A" always got under my skin, and at my age it gets thinner.

I'd like to plant my size eleven squarely in the keister of whoever started using it. It's just another example of the dumbing down of America and a ride I won't be going on.

I suppose a Hammarlund SP-600 Non J, JX, JLX or VLF will be next...

Les,

I did as you suggested and Googled "R390/URR Non-A", and got 1,440 hits. So, maybe the government didn't buy any "R390/URR Non-A" receivers, but 1,440 sites believe that they exist ;^) Quite simply, this is how language evolves.

Or, as in this case Bill - devolves. Describing something as what it isn't instead of what it is, or framing it with a later sub-model as the progenitor. Akin to saying something like "I've got a '69 Chevelle non-SS".

Fortunately there's hope: Googling R-390/URR returned over 57,000 hits and R-390 receiver, over 650,000. The new-age ebonics approach remains but a small sliver of the overall discussion out there. Seems to primarily be an internet thing.

Hang in there, Les!
