List,
Next to dealing with uckumpuky, (not often seen) is MFP (often seen) is the most despised item found on BA equipment when one has to solder a terminal that's coated with it.
I've started doing a frame-off complete reman of a SP 600 JX 17. It of course had the MFP applied. I was not looking forward to scraping it off with a sharp tool(s).
At first I thought about using a Dremel tool. That didn't seem like too good of an idea having the rotating carbide bit in amongst the tight spaces. Now I had first removed the entire PS as well as the tuning unit so I had a light weight chassis to work with. I'm glad I made the decision as there were 4 BBOD's in some very difficult places,
Then it occurred to me that I had a cheap engraving tool that I had used long ago.
Success!
In about 15 minutes I had all of the connections cleaned and ready to go.
YMMV
Regards,
Perrier
