[R-390] NOS R-390A's

The military and the US government does have solid state, microprocessor
driven equipment that has been designed and is specifically hardened to
deal with the battlefield environment following an NEMP event.

There has been an ongoing test and certification process for many pieces of
electronic equipment to verify that it will function. I have read through
many of the test reports that come from such testing and there are
different levels of acceptable degradation that follow NEMP pulses. Most
often the equipment will experience some sort of upset or locked-up state
that requires a power-off/on to restore function. Other times it will do
minor damage like a failed LCD display segment or a minor function of the
radio that no longer works correctly (like auto-tuners).

Even the testing standards continue to evolve; With equipment needing to
meet even higher levels of electrical immunity and shielding.

To think that the US military is suddenly going to become dependent upon
some radio that is 70 years old would also imply that they have a cadre of
active duty personnel who would be qualified at operating that equipment.

It's just a receiver.

>> So folks, where does the US government store their NOS R-390As? You
know they have something to use in case of a nuke attack.
