[R-390] Some of you will hate this (purist pain)

I try to not worry about purists who would love to have a receiver with
every module with the original matching serial numbers and every BBOD
capacitor restored to its original (leaky) glory.
It would be like trying to find vintage foam to replace inside of the
mechanical filters.
I choose to apply the best technology available when rehabbing while still
keeping glowing bottles of glass and metal inside of the radio.
-----------------------------
This last week I realized I have too many radios... way too many, to the
point where I cannot even really count them.. Maybe 30-40 receivers and
10-15 transmitters and transceivers. Somewhere along the line when I get to
the point where I have what I really want the hamfests in northeast Alabama
will probably be seeing quite a bit of gear sitting on a table, limited
only by the ability of my back and heart to move them from table to car.
I am going to get back to the state of where I can spend more time
listening and using rather than tinkering. When I was young that is what I
enjoyed the most; Spinning the dial on my SP-200 late at night and
listening to whispers from strange lands in the darkness.
