[R-390] no receive below 8mc.

OK Chuck,  hows it going?  Been thru your dilemma just recently, I learned a lot.  The guys  really know their stuff.  They stepped me thru it.  
  So theres likely capacitor problems.  Seems like your 17mc osc is working OK.  The next  step is in the 1st variable IF.  There are 3 plug in cans here.  Are the 6C4s  and 5654s all good?  Underneath the RF deck are 5 critical caps in this area.  2 are 1.5pf,  2 are 51pf and a 3rd is a 68pf.  If you have an Rf generator capable of 7mc  you can try  forcing this thru at the ant. terminal.  See if you get anything.   Before you pull the RF deck,  do the check of the 6 pos. bandswitch.  You can also check for B+ plate voltage in the 1st IF when @ 7mc.  This voltage shuts off when you switch to 8mc.  Keep us posted as to your findings.  Russ.
