Yes, one can get good new scopes from China rivaling used Tek or HP prices.
Now the what IF: Getting it fixed and customer support?
Then their is the issue of supporting the USA economy.  For me there is more to life than just money.  Look at the financials of the USA. Keep buying from China long enough and you wont have money to buy either.  I'm not touching on the Chinese human rights conditions, privacy, and environmental issues.  I'll leave that to Apple to screw up. 
True there is no customer support for used Tek, HP and others BUT there is a wealth of free information from user groups as well as lists like this. They are also, with some limitations, reasonably repairable.
For both technical and personal reasons I'll keep my money here. and this isn't an O.T. issue. It's about what we'll have in the futere.
