Hi Jan, If your IF filters have the adjustable caps across them, I'd try them 1st. Make sure the caps are not at the end of the adjustment range. The fixed silver micas across in and out might have changed value, also. Does the R-391 have the 'killer' cap for the filters? Has it been changed? If not, be sure to do so.
Regards, Larry

1 Wondering if anyone is parting out a R-391, I am in need of the megacycle tuning knob complete with the locking key and shaft assembly.
mine came equipped with a generic spinner knob in it's place. It's easy to tune but useless when I get the Auto-Tune running.
This radio #138 is now clean and functioning fine after 25+ years in dry storage but I am now doing a thorough cleanup and tune-up before I attempt to fire up the Auto-Tune.
Comparing it yesterday to my Icom 7200 and it proved to be just as sensitive maybe even better and the 391 audio was superb!

2 Audio in the 4kc position is way down, any suggestions?

I appreciate any tips from 391 owners
