[R-390] Roll Call

Hello Gents,

 

  I'm coming out of the woodwork to say hello and to announce that I read
posts with great interest.

 

  I own two fine R-390's.  The best of the two was tuned and calibrated a
few years ago by Chuck Ripple who lived in Virginia Beach-about two hours
from me.  I have not heard much from Chuck lately and I'm a bit concerned.
I emailed him about two weeks ago and have not received a reply.  I pray
that he's alright, knowing that he was a military man.  

 

   That fine receiver seems to have lost its BFO.  Any suggestions of where
to start looking?  I had not put power to it for a long time and, without
thinking, failed to bring it up on a variac.  Huuuummm!  Any and all
comments are welcome on the topic of the BFO.

   I also own an especially fine Watkins Johnson 8617B receiver that was
