[R-390] Rockwell-Collins ending production of mechanical filters

Hi

If Collins (or anybody else) was making money in the mechanical filter business over the last 10 years,
they have hidden that fact mighty well. Even the IF crystal filter business is shrinking mighty fast. You don’t see
any discrete IF filters in cell phones or cell base stations. That’s the main part of the radio business these days,
dollar wise.

Even if you narrow down to military radio the key idea today is “works with any modulation". That pretty much
rules out discrete filters right there….. The spec requires DSP right up front.
