Having a large number of radio's without meters to restore, I have been in
the process of developing an OLD display using digital technology to
emulate the analog meters.

I have solicited one of my amateur radio college to replicate an existing
Dejur meter front bezel with room for the OLD display behind it. He will
be printing the initial samples on his 3D printer.

It will be powered of the pilot light, an Atmel AVR will be used for the
processing the A/D will be made to perfectly emulate the original S-meter.
The A/D is fast enough to directly sample the audio and display the VU
output. I am thinking an option rather than the needle would be a bar
graph. Not done yet but on its way ... tom, N3LLL
