Hi
We chat about how silly keeping BBOD’s is and in my book that’s correct. Of course if you went back 50 years, there were a lot of things I did to ARC-5’s and R-390’s that would get me yelled at today.
Here’s my guess:
We’re going to pull out all the original parts from these radios and one with the “real stuff” in it will become the oddity. The next generation down the line will be after a radio that “looks correct”. They will be going out and finding BBOD bodies to stuff new capacitors into. Yes, it sounds silly to us today. Not chopping up a radio to turn it into a frankenstein radio would have sounded very silly to me 50 years ago.
Putting the pulled caps in an old coffee can may not be a bad idea.
