[R-390] Top and bottom covers-Why?

The *A* is already a component cooker that could use fan
cooling to extend its operational life.  Why would you want to put them on an operational radio? 
 
Unless of course you are using them as cooling fan mounts.
 
The only radio I know of that really benefits with its OEM
cover is the R388 series.  But them if you
don’t add the later models type of heat shield between the rectifier tube and
the power transformer the power transformer will go goodbye.  Got one real cheap, including a replacement power
transformer because of the missing shield.
