Alan,
I had that exact same problem with the MHz band switch. In my case the
radio was intermittent on the 2 and 3 MHz band positions. I very gently
cleaned up the switch contacts under the RF deck and the problem went away.
As there is some black magic (and fragile rotary switch contacts) involved
I did not want to mess with it too much.
