Yes two receivers for diversity as shown here with AN/URA-8A RTTY converter/comparator.

But Dave was asking about why two CV-591 SSB converters. One R-390A plus 2 converters was a standard shipboard configuration. ISB transmitters would simultaneously transmit
  RTTY on LSB
  Voice or RTTY on USB
