Morning: I have put two files containing information concerning an inquiry I
made regarding using AC rated capacitors for DC voltages.
These files may be of interest to some.
BTW, I didn't make them available to start a "I know more than you" confab,
but only to provide the response that was sent to me by a manufacturer.
You can see them on BOX.com in my "KR4HV" folder.

Much, much less than 400V, but I'm not aware of any generalized conversion
factor. It all depends on the particular cap design. I once put this
question to a Sprague capacitor engineer, and he looked at me cockeyed and
said, "Don't ever put DC on AC-rated caps. They're not designed for it. We
make DC-rated caps for that."
