Ron,
Its a two layer problem.
You can get the crystal oven in the R390 open with out removing the RF deck.
You need to remove some 6 x32 screws around the cover of the oven .
See figure 23 in TM-11-5820-357-35.
You get to reach in at an angle to remove the screws that will let the oven cover come off the subassembly.
Then there is the heater coil around the crystals under the cover.
Then there is an inner cover over the crystals.
The you can get to the crystals to change one or two as your case may be.
Will some one please remind us where the whole set of R390 photos are on the web pages.
I have forgotten.
Thanks

Subject: [R-390] R390 ( non A ) crystal oven instructions
OK, I give up! I need to replace Y404 and Y408. I have the manuals
TM-11-5820-357-35 and the TM-11-5820-357-20. I have removed the
Crystal-Oscillator Subchassis per section 60 of the manual and I’ve removed the
cover of the oven BUT I can’t find any instructions for opening the oven to
replace the crystals..... As usual, any help will be appreciated....
