An amplified speaker is a good way to go, as is an external amplifier 
with a separate speaker.  But you still have to feed the amplifier 
something, and the existing audio output from a 26A7 running steaming 
hot with no bias is not a very good source.  So it's either fix the 
26A7 stage, or tap audio off another point in the radio (and you'll 
find that there isn't really any good place).  Even if you did tap 
the audio from somewhere else, it's still a good idea to fix the 26A7 
bias so it's not wasting power and killing itself.  At which point, 
why mess with tapping the audio someplace else?  Just use the 
newly-fixed 600 ohm AF output.
