Nolan's, Sam Adam's quote on his email sign caught my eye.

I launched my old camo paint job Ducks Unlimited Suburban at 68 miles
per hour in a curve a few years ago. I drove it for ten years prior
to that without a scratch. I was driving Suburbans long before they
became a Yuppie status symbol. At any rate, it rolled and rolled and
rolled and rolled some more. I did get a little scratch on the side
of one of my fingers when the windshield landed in my lap. Other
than that, no injury. I guess that the big guy upstairs had other
plans for my eventual demise. I replaced it with another Suburban
a couple of days later and bought the wrecked one back from the
insurance company.
If I'd have been in some flimsy little coffin on wheels, rather than
strapped into 6220 pounds of quality engineered Detroit steel, I'd
have just been one more traffic statistic. Ditto for the two and
a half end over end flips my wife did about 15 years ago in an 84
Buick after running off of the road at 60 miles per hour and
hitting a culvert. Yes Virginia, Buicks CAN fly...but not for very
far. ;-) Other than a bruise across her chest from the shoulder belt,
no injury. Several days later, another new Buick replaced that one.
At 6'3" and 270 pounds, I find most vehicles rather cramped. No
leg room, no head room, the steering wheel in your face, etc. Not to
mention that there's no room to carry goodies back from the hamfest,
etc. Will an R-390A even fit IN a Yugo? <grin>
So I only get 17 miles per gallon with it. I look at the extra money
I spend on fuel as weekly life insurance premiums. If it doesn't weight
at least 5000 pounds and have two acres of sheet metal, is capable of
clipping off a telephone pole like a stalk of crabgrass, or pull a
6000 pound 29 foot travel trailer down the highway at 70 miles an
hour, I don't want it.
Good gas mileage means nothing if your dead. ;-)
Hmmm, that's a good quote! I need to remember that one.
