Some of those sites are still in operation today and designated by other
three and four letter agencies. Many are part of what is called "Continuity
of Operations" (Continuity of Government) plans and are located in remote
areas that are supposed to be isolated enough to survive bad things. There
is a mixture of lots of different systems out there, practically every
other three and four letter agency has some role in COG.
