When I need to unsolder something from one of these terminal posts, I 
unscrew the post from the chassis first.  That way, I'm not putting 
any strain on the post itself -- any pulling and prying is against 
the other wires/components connected to the terminal end.

A good vacuum desoldering iron lets you minimize the amount of heat 
you need to use to get things free.
