That's a great source. You never know until you look. I've sold more
stuff on Craig's list than any other ad source. I even sold my old truck
last summer for an extremely good price. It only listed for 20 hours!
Sold my wife's $10 antique table for $110 and a ton of other stuff
around here. The listings are always very interesting.
An even better source for me is the regional Bulletin Board rag that
sells weekly. You know, the kind that has thousands of for sale items
listed and sells for about a dollar at the convenience store checkouts..
I got a newer Transoceanic in great condition for free once. Once I
found 4 big bound sets of Rider's for $25 each. Those binders weigh
about 10 lbs each! That is my go to radio for local FM stations with
that big antenna on it. I've come home loaded with tubes, parts, small
AM & AM/FM tube radios, etc. Placing ads is free. I was placing an ad in
several sections saying that I was looking for old tube radios, tubes,
etc. I said that this was a hobby and that I didn't have a lot of money.
There are a lot of people out there who know departed uncle Bob's old
ham gear is worth something, but who to ask? And, they don't want to
just throw it away. They are wanting someone to show an interest if you
let them know you'll take care of it and not sell it off. Everybody
knows about Ebay. I make a point of promising not to sell anything and I
haven't so far.

> Don't forget about Craigslist. I have had some luck there. I happened on a local R390 with two nearly full sets of spare tubes and several original manuals at a great price and didn't have to ship it. I also found a 2B from another state and the fellow happened to be travelling to my hometown within a few weeks of listing it. He delivered it right to my work location for free as it is just right off the interstate he was travelling on.
