Excellent summary, thanks for the reminder.  I had thought that 
Vishay acquired an interest in SBE, leading to an exclusive 
distribution deal, but perhaps that was not so.  Lately, I see 
distributors stocking ODs from both SBE and CDE (Cornell Dubilier), 
in addition to Vishay/Sprague:

Very unlikely that CDE would have paid good money for the OD line
