First find out if you have output from the crystal oscillator deck on position 1 (next after position zero). Look down through the little circular window and you should see a LINE centered between the zero and the two number. You can use a frequency counter on the output fitting, or a scope, or another receiver. If you dont have output, remove that deck, pull the crystal, carefully remove the quartz from its holder and wash with soap and water. There is also a ceramic trimmer cap associated with each crystal. These have B+ on them. Sometimes these go bad. Check that it is not shorted. If this doesnt work, you need a new crystal. If your crystal deck is okay, the problem might be in the band switch. If you can get things to work with the mhz knob ever so slightly off of detent, its the band switch out of adjustment.
