[R-390] Working on aR390A

I am in the process of getting a 390A back to life. I  have gone over the IF
deck and now have it operating according to the Y2K manual with 10 micro
volts giving me the proper 0 V reading. When I hook up the RF deck the noise
level pins the VU meter in the -10 position and feeding 455kc from E211
requires much more than 10 micro volts to be heard. I wanted to ask if there
is anything special I should look for that would cause this high noise
level.

 

 

I am reading the pearls of wisdom so I have an idea of the caps I will need
to change. Just looking for some advice before I pull the module. Also I
would like to thank all who have contributed their knowledge here and in
Y2K. I would never have gotten this far without it.
