I too found BCWipe about 12 years ago.

DoD has since gone to the same levels that I have.  Destroying the 
platters.  You can either drill through them as suggested, or you can 
remove them and fold them in half.

It really makes no difference to me.  I'd just prefer to ensure that 
personal information such as taxes NOT get out in the world.

It happens constantly!
