John, those 1N561 diodes were part of a Navy mod to solid state the power
supply.

I've run across a few of those myself, and they all had bent sockets to
prevent a tube from being plugged in.  But no goop.

Bent tube sockets weren't specified in the Navy mod; RTV was just salt in
the wound (pun intended).

Room Temperature Vulcanizing that contained acetic acid (smells like
vinegar) is most certainly corrosive over time.
