Chuck,

Thanks for the tip. DXing pirates is probably my favorite thing to do. 
The QSLs are very interesting too.

My best luck has been with random wire antennas up in trees. I've had 
many dipoles cut to 43m and have logged many pirates with them, but my 
trusty rolls of 300' of cheap speaker wire has logged the most the loudest.
