I was contacted by a gentleman with a working R-389 for sale.
I asked him to let me list it here on the R-390 list before he
advertises elsewhere.
This particular R-389 receiver may have been used by a US Army
intelligence unit in the Philippines, in the mid to late 1960's,
The receiver and seller are on the on the east coast, Fort Dix NJ area.
He is armed with my SWAG estimate of market value based on a front
panel picture.
The unit needs some cosmetic care, the front panel has some PMEL
and DYMO labels, the small dial lock knob is not original, there is some
grunge on the rack handles, the back panel looks like it may have some paint
splatter. It does have the pin straighteners, but, alas, no tube
pullers or tools.
The Signal Corps date stamp for MW101 is July 20, 1955.
I only saw exterior views of the receiver. Its a high serial number.
