X7R is clearly superior to Y5V, but not as good as film capacitors for low-distortion audio.

Has anyone in this august group made any definitive measurements of
distortion or other glitches on a typical X7R Ceramic capacitor. I've been told
that in some high gain audio circuits that some poorly made ceramic caps
may tend to act as piezo sensors, but I'll have to do some testing to
confirm that parameter.
As to metallized fim vs foil and film. Other than self healing and lower
pulse current capability, I'd be surprised if one could measure the
difference between the two in connection with distortion or power factor.
