Then you may be interested to know that the 3585A has a tracking 
generator built in.  You would need an attenuator to get its output 
level down to useful receiver input levels.

If you have good points to inject and monitor the IF frequency, the 
SA display will give you a beautiful picture of the IF 
passband.  (Don't forget to turn the radio's AGC off.)
