The 6060 is one of the better synthesized generators, although it
still cannot match an 8640B when close-in phase noise is a primary
concern. As with all computer-controlled generators, it is very
convenient to change settings quickly and you can coordinate
automated test schemes with other equipment using GPIB if you care
to. It also goes down to 100 kHz. The HP has a considerably greater
output range -- 6 dB on top and 12 dB at the bottom -- and is better
shielded, so signal and hash leakage is rarely a concern.

Personally, I would probably keep one of each, unless I thought I was
going to need two generators that were better than the Fluke in the
particular areas where the HP shines.

Best regards,

Don
