Your stunning display of ignorance, compounded by reiterating it in
the same disrespectful, abusive manner in the face of
incontrovertible evidence from several sources to the contrary,
boggles the mind.
As others have said (with cites to the manuals), Y501 (contained
within Z501) is, most assuredly, a crystal filter. And the "ONE tube
[to which it ties] for the purpose of creating the ENTIRE 455Kc
oscillator that is the HEART of the entire IF deck" is actually V501,
the "First IF Amplifier." No amount of holding your breath and
stamping your feet will make it otherwise.
Why anyone would think that a 455 kHz oscillator would be the "heart"
of any 455 kHz IF is beyond comprehension. (There is, of course, the
BFO (Z502), the "other" PTO in a 390A, but that is hardly the "heart"
of the IF -- in fact, it is not really part of the IF circuit at all,
rather it is coupled directly to the detector through a small capacitance.)
Over and above your manifest technical incompetence, which could
otherwise just be laughed at and dismissed, you directly insulted
three list members with your abusive drivel. I suggest that you
should, therefore, make a contrite, humbling, and sincere on-list
apology to Brian, Steve, and Tom before you even think of posting
anything else on this list. Better yet, just go away.
Best regards,
Don
